Obituary of Josephine Wooden
Mrs. Josephine Wooden was born October 24th 1930 in Altheimer, Arkansas to Sarilla and Samuel Ruth whom preceded her in death. She married Joe Willie Wooden on April 8, 1950 in Jackson County Arkansas. She later moved to Michigan where she worked at Luigis, Papa Akti and YMCA until she retired. Josephine was a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church for 40 years where she served as a member of the Usher Board. She enjoyed going to Bingo, playing Pokeno with family and going to eat at Cracker Barrell. Josephine was loved by everyone who knew here, especially her family.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, Fred Serif, Larry (Patricia) Wooden, Joyce (Maurice) Johnson and Eddie Wooden; daughter-in-laws, Pam Wooden and Susan Wooden; sisters, Lillie Harris, Irene Oliphant, Jamie Ruth, Rodell Craft; one brother, Robert Ruth; 12 grandchildren, Cynthia Wooden (LaMark), Shannon (Craig) Sanders, Shawn Wooden, Nicole Dillard, Courtney Wooden, Curtis Dillard, Walter (Dana) Johnson, Siera Merkison, An Janelle Wooden, Walter Wooden Jr., Shawanna Lowe, Reggie Stadium and Andre Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarilla Ruth; father, Samuel Ruth; her husband, Joseph Wooden; three children, Walter, Kenneth and Curtis Wooden; two grandchildren, Marvel Wooden and Erica Davis; three sisters, Mary Lee Ruth, Cloteal Ruth and Samella Ruth; and her brother, Charles W. Ruth.
She leaves behind 28 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; honorary granddaughter, Sherkene Johnson; special nieces Linda Alexander and Shirley Hill; God daughter, Joyce Reeves; special friends, Shirley Mann and Carol Payne; and friends, Krystal, Sandra and Ruby.
