It doesn't seem real. I miss you so so much. I want to pick up the phone and call you and it's painful to know I cannot. I love you Mom always, always. Safe in the arms of Jesus. Till we meet again I'll take you with me everywhere I go.

Florene Crowdus-Allen posted a condolence

I was listening to Fre'de'ric Chopin: Piano Concerto Nocturne No. 8 in D. Flat Major, Saturday morning as I prepared breakfast on a hot July day in Charlotte, North Carolina for myself and my husband, Jimmy. This beautiful music performed by Maurizio Pollini danced and swelled softly floating around my head reminding me of a kind and beautiful soul who left us all too soon. As the music demanded my ear so ever more, I could visualize Marshia Crowdus--my brother Roger's fist wife--through the years in which my husband and I visited Rushville on many different occasions: visiting my dad Evander Crowdus and his wife Mattie who lived across the street, attending Anecia's Graduation at Rushville High, participating in the celebratory dinner for the first African American School renovated in Rushville now a Recreational Center, and attending many Funerals over the years. Oh, how I'm gonna miss her!
God has given us all a gift, and Marshia knew how to unwrap and read her Bible each and every morning, while enjoying a hot cup of coffee on her front porch located on 8th Street in Rushville, Indiana. "A quiet moment with her Lord," Marsha would say when I on occasion interrupted her with a telephone call from Charlotte to shoot the breeze. Being such a kind and gentle person with that sweet endearing voice, Marsha would say, "Florene how are you sweetie"? "Your son Sean came to visit me and I thought he was a "Bill Collector" dressed in a business suit." We both laughed! I could visualize that big warm smile on her face, so glad to see and make acquaintances with just about anyone, especially family.
I was fortunate to talk to Marshia and feel that penetrating warmth she often shared through her amazing voice one chilly morning when I called her from my new home in Charlotte, N.C. I treasured her, and hearing her sweet voice was a gift that definitely was appreciated. I had told my son, who is a Pharmaceutical Representative for that region to stop by Marshia's house in Rushville, and he would probably find her on the front porch reading her Bible. He in fact did, according to my previous conversation with Marshia. I often told both my son's--Jimmy Lee and Sean-- that our relatives in Rushville were the kindness folks they would ever meet on this earth, just like my husband's people in Pavo, Georgia. There's no drama when you are in their presence, and that's a blessing we all yearn these days. Like musical strings on a classical violin, someday they will break, if overly tighten as the final notes attempt to play the last finale; life falls apart too, but mends in the end.
I send my deepest condolences to Marshia's family in Rushville and Indianapolis Indiana. For they have truly lost their Rock! I loved her as they do, and may God send his angels to wipe all our tears away!
Love
Florene Crowdus- Allen
