Obituary of Thelma Bentley

Thelma Mae Bentley was born March 27, 1932 to Maggie and Early James Turner in Birmingham, Alabama.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Thelma and her family moved to the city of Indianapolis in 1945 at the age of thirteen. She attended Crispus Attucks High Scholl after leaving she went on to be an assembler at RCA, retiring in 1971 at a very early age. In the later part of life, she had various jobs working as a laundry attendant and home health aide. Later she went back to Arsenal Technical High School where she received her High School diploma in the early 1980’s. She was a member of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Messiah Missionary Baptist Church before becoming an active member of Oasis of Hope Baptist Church where she served in several ministries for over 20 years. Thelma had a love for fashion, loved her hats and was nicknamed Queen Diva by her fellow church members. She also loved to sew, cook and decorate. Thelma was known for her famous rolls that her family and friends loved.
Thelma departed this earthly life on January 5, 2021 at the age of 88 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marcia Ann Burton; sons, Frederick A. Carter and James Carter; and sisters, Gladys Whitley, Laura Langford and Alice Elmore.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Clifford A. Due and Charles A. Dues Jr., sister, Jean Avery of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
