Jerry Jasper Payne Sr., 62, of Philadelphia, PA went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2020. He was born in Terre Haute, IN at St. Anthony’s Hospital to Rymick(Ronnie) Payne and Leota Edwards-Minor on May 25, 1958. Jerry attended North Vigo High School in Terre Haute, IN and served in the United States Army. Jerry was a self-employed skilled carpenter and construction worker who worked with many different businesses in Philadelphia, PA. Jerry enjoyed talking with his friends and family, creating artwork, and writing. He is survived by his mother Leota Minor of Indianapolis, IN; sisters Jennifer Lawson of Indianapolis, IN, Cheryl Gross of Crailsheim, Germany, Charlene Payne of Terre Haute, IN, Darlene McCaskill of Terre Haute, IN, and Melanie Davis of Terre Haute, IN; brothers Joseph Payne of Evansville, IN, Rodney Payne of Indianapolis, IN, Mark Minor of Terre Haute, IN, Clark Minor of Evansville, IN, and Leon Minor Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; sons Antonio Thomas of Terre Haute, IN, Jerry Payne Jr. of Vincennes, IN, Joey Payne of Vincennes, IN, grandson Bradley Payne of Terre Haute, IN, a host of cousins, an uncle (Rev. Joseph Edwards), an aunt (Gloria Johnson), nephews and nieces; and fiancé Stacy Long. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents Tressie and Geraldine Payne of Terre Haute, IN and Clark and Ruth Edwards of Terre Haute, IN, his father Rymick Payne of Terre Haute, IN his step-father Leon Minor Sr. of Terre Haute, IN, and his beloved daughter Ruthena Payne of Indianapolis, IN. Jerry was deeply loved by so many and he will truly be missed.
Jerry’s life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
