Jessie M. Jones

                Jessie M. Jones entered this life on June 14, 1935 in Montgomery, AL to Evandrew and Josephine Tucker. Jessie was the oldest surviving child. Reverend Jessie M. Jones want home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents Evandrew and Josephine Tucker; 3 brothers, Lomac Tucker, James Tucker, and Stephen; 2 sisters, Verline Barnes and Wilma Tucker; 2 sons, Willie Jones and Abraham Jones; 1 grandson, Glenn Jones.

                She married Andrew L. Jones on June 3, 1953 in Montgomery, AL. Jessie relocated to Gary, IN in the early 50’s. She attended Indiana University Northwest where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Jessie later attended Purdue University where she received her master’s degree in education.

                Jessie was employed by Gary Community School Corporation for 29 years. This entire duration teaching 2nd grade at Douglas Elementary School. Jessie truly loved the Lord and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She was ordained as a deacon in 1994. Later in August 1994 she was ordained as a minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

                She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her Best friend and loving daughter, Barbara Lane of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sons, Andrew Jones Jr. of Gary, IN, Leroy Jones of Lafayette, IN; 6 sisters, Ethel Jackson of Cleveland, OH, Velma Gray of Cleveland, OH, Racheal Walters of Montgomery, AL, Ann Colvin of Montgomery, AL, Ella Louise Tucker of Montgomery, AL, Arlynda (DeWayne) Johnson of Montgomery, AL; 1 brother, Evandrew Tucker Jr. of Montgomery, AL; 7 grandchildren, Antwann Garrett, Terrel Jones, Leanettra (Robert) Bernard, Jajuan Jones, Catrina (Alfred) Tate, Latasha(Michael) Hamblin, Dejanique Jones; 11 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
