DeMario Vaughn-Khy Thomas

DeMario Vaughn-Khy Thomas was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 13, 1986 and passed away on April 16,2019 at the age of 32 years old. He was the son of Henrietta Thomas. DeMario attended Washington Township schools and graduated from North Central High School in 2005. He attended Vincennes University where he received his degree. Mario was raised with the Christian faith and accepted Jesus into his heart at the age of 10.

DeMario worked for the Washington Township school system as assistant teacher and was also a youth counselor at the YMCA. He also helped coach and train young athletes.

DeMario, known as “Mario” was known to always have a listening ear, encouraging word and a loving smile. His smile reflected his servant’s heart. He would go out of his way to help those who were in need and never expected anything in return. As a young man, Mario loved basketball. He played high school basketball at North Central High School, and then want on to play college basketball at Vincennes University and Campbellsville University. He dreamed of playing in the NBA. You could always find him shooting hoops for hours at a time. He pretty mush carried a basketball everywhere he went. As he got older, he put his mind to making music. He had even produced his own CD with plans to create a career in the music field. His music spoke about his struggles, his hope and his God. Mario had a very close relationship with his mother “Retta” and his big brother Romondo (Tezo) and was crazy about his two nephews, Omari and Josiah. Family and God meant everything to Mario. His motto was “Family Over Everything and God Over All.”

DeMario leaves to cherish his memory his; mother, Henrietta Laticia Thomas; brother, Romondo Khy Thomas; brother, Anthony King; nephews, Omari Thomas, Josiah Thomas, Anthony King Jr., Ace King, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

DeMario’s spirit will live on forever.
