Maurice Charles Butts

Maurice Charles Butts was born January 16, 1966 in Bowling Green, KY. The son of Jackie Anderson, and step-son of John (JD) Anderson.

Maurice received his primary education at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, KY, until his junior year. From there he moved to Indianapolis, IN and continued his education at Arlington High School, graduating class of 1984. He was employed with Impromptu Transportation.

Maurice confessed his spiritual faith in Christ at an early age. He served the Lord at Second Chance Restoration Temple under Pastor George Poole, were he was a Deacon within the church.

Maurice’s favorite passions was being there for his mother, always bringing her chicken, cutting grass, or just spending time with her. He also loved spending time with his grandkids, family and friends. Maurice enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, cars, motorcycles. Maurice was a mentor and loved coaching kids, they called him “Coach M”.

Maurice was always a kind and gentle soul, he had a sweet affectionate and forgiving spirit. He was always supporting his family, friends and children he coached by talking, giving advice and guidance. He left behind a legacy of being a man of pure heart. Whoever was to come in contact with Maurice, never had a bad thing to say about him. He cherished everyone he met and was willing to do what he could for others. Maurice’s memory will forever live on in the hearts and souls of his family and friends to which they will hold dearly.

On May 23, 2018 Maurice Departed his physical life to begin his spiritual life with his Savior at the tender age of 52.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved mother, Jackie Anderson and step-father John (JD) Anderson; daughters, Selena Whatley and Samantha Drake; sister, Nicole (Brian Towler) Mason-Towler, brothers, James Mason Jr, Lamont Mason; grandkids, Jaidyn Carter, Austin Harris, Avery Harris; step-sisters, Ophelia (Poochie) Foster, Addie Gilliard and Tessie Bell; step-brother, Charles (Debbie) Anderson; uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends, special friends; best friends, Bruce Robinson, Dr. Rev. Clyde Posley and Andrew Dunaway.

Maurice was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Mason; step-brother, John Anderson Jr; grandparents, Hubert and Mary Butts; Aunts Elizabeth Pernell, Mary Johnson, Ulala Cross; Uncles, William Butts, Michael Butts; cousins, Frieda Trabue-Stott and Erwin Butts Whitney. Maurice will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all who know him.
