Donald Keith Pope

Donald Keith Pope:  June 23, 1938 – November 28, 2017

Donald (Don) Keith Pope was born on June 23, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Richard Pope and Clarrean Anthony.   He departed this life on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at his home.
Don attended Indianapolis Public School’s Wendell Phillips #63 and graduated from George Washington High School.  He participated in track, basketball, and band as a student.  He continued his education at Indiana University and Indiana Wesleyan University receiving Bachelors of Science and Master’s degree in business.
Don was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp from 1956-1959.  He loved talking about the days he served and wearing his marine’s cap.  Don was a socialite as he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, The Masons, and the Thirteen Black Cats.  He enjoyed dancing and singing with Benny Carroll, Charles Williams, and the late Eddie Kelley, and Frank Minton in the singing group, the Elamingos.  He started singing in hallways of George Washington High School and in neighborhood homes.  He was, to say the least, the best dressed young man in the neighborhood.  He would go to work at the Link-Belt in a suit, change into his work clothes and then change back into his executive style clothes to go home.
Don retired from General Motors as a Senior Supplier Development Engineer.  During his tenure at Allison’s, he conducted training for quality procedures throughout the country.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Richard Pope and Clarrean Anthony, his siblings Carole Williams, and Craig Anthony.
He leaves his memory to cherish to his loving wife of thirty-six years Sharon Pope, sister Sandra Thompkins, daughters Donna (George) Branham, Robin (Allen) Leslie, Dionne (Kevin) Curd, sons Keith Pope, Nic Ridley, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
